  • A death doula provides non-medical support and works alongside your existing medical team.

At Well Doula, we complement the care you’re already receiving by focusing on the emotional, practical, and relational aspects of illness, aging, or end-of-life that often fall outside the scope of traditional medical care.

  • A death doula is not a replacement for your hospice, palliative care, or medical providers. We work alongside your existing medical team, bridging the gap between complex medical systems and everyday life. Well Doula will help you to slow down and move forward with more clarity about what matters most, what questions to ask, or what comes next.

  • We may be biased, but we believe it’s never too soon to start end-of-life planning. This work isn’t only for the final days. In fact, it’s often most valuable when you still have time to reflect and make decisions without the pressure of a crisis. That’s freedom.

Whether you’re caring for a loved one, navigating a diagnosis, or planning ahead, Well Doula helps you prepare for what’s next, so you can spend more time living well now.

  • Well Doula works with adults navigating serious illness, aging, caregiving, grief, and end-of-life planning.

Some people come to prepare for the future. Others are living with a terminal diagnosis or supporting someone they love.

Wherever you find yourself, Well Doula offers a grounded place to navigate uncertainty with greater clarity. We’ll meet you right where you are.

  • Working together will begin with an initial conversation to understand your situation, your concerns, and what feels most pressing.

From there, we’ll determine what kind of support feels most helpful.

Some people need just one or two conversations. Others prefer support over time. We will move at a pace that feels steady and supportive for you, no matter where you are in your process.

Well Doula is based in Santa Cruz, CA and provides support primarily through virtual sessions. If you are in Santa Cruz County and interested in meeting in person, please get in touch to discuss availability.

  • Support looks different for everyone, depending on what you’re navigating. Together, we might prepare for future healthcare decisions or difficult conversations, make sense of a new diagnosis, or take space to process the emotional realities of caregiving or end-of-life.

Whether the work to be done is practical, emotional, or somewhere in between, Well Doula helps make the uncertainty a little more manageable.

  • You don’t have to know that before reaching out. We’ll figure it out together.

Many people come to Well Doula feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or without the words to describe what they need. That’s a perfectly okay place to begin.

Together, we’ll sort through what’s coming up, identify what matters most, and decide what the next right step looks like.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

  • No. Well Doula offers non-medical support, education, and guidance. We do not provide medical treatment, diagnosis, emergency services, or psychotherapy through this work.

My background as a licensed social worker and hospice & palliative care provider has given me a deep understanding of the medical, emotional and systemic realities of serious illness and end-of-life. That perspective shapes every conversation we have.

The best care is collaborative. When appropriate, I’ll encourage you to partner with medical, hospice, legal, or mental health providers so you feel well supported from every angle.

  • That’s a very human place to be, and often the reason people reach out. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan.

You can arrive exactly as you are.

Sometimes the greatest relief comes from having someone sit beside you while you figure out what comes next. That’s what Well Doula is here for.

  • The western influence is less about aesthetics and more about the feeling it evokes: open sky, honest living, and a deep appreciation for the natural rhythms of life.

Both end-of-life work and rural traditions ask us to face mortality with honesty, practicality, and respect.

A perspective that feels spacious, grounded, and just a little untamed.

Well Doula empowers individuals, families, and caregivers to face life’s inevitable transitions with more clarity and intention. Where life and death coexist, a deeper sense of freedom begins.
